NLC & #OccupyNigeria Nationwide Strike Update

After the House of Representatives voted against the removal of fuel subsidy yesterday after their Sunday emergency session to discuss the state of the nation, the strike still goes on.

The NLC nationwide strike starts today against the removal of fuel subsidy.

#Occupy Nigeria protests also takes it to the streets in peaceful march not violence. Here are some of the meeting points

Abuja is meeting at Eagle Square although there are people camping there overnight.

Ibadan kicks off at Mokola at 8am.

Gombe protest starts from Labour House (Linus Sabulu) by 8am.

Bauchi starts from Labour House by 8am.

Makurdi meeting place is around the Federal Medical Center by 6am – NLC Chairman Simon Anchaver.

Lagos is Gani Fawehinmi park, Ojota by 9am

  • Take off for Island crowd in Lagos is under the Falomo Bridge at 8am
  • People of Meiran, Abule Egba, Sango, Agbado converge at Mr Biggs Abule Egba bus stop, 7.30am then to Ojota
  • Osogbo meeting by 7am at Ayetoro Junction.

NLC is picketing at the airport this evening to ensure they ground all flights out as from midnight #occupyNigeria – Abar

Nigerian novelist Chinua Achebe, other writers declare solidarity.

NMA Lagos has directed all doctors to join nationwide strike today. Only emergency services will be offered.

Lokoja will be conveying at Paparand’s square from 7am.

Some Nigerian students have given Dbanj an ultimatum to join in the protest or get stoned off stage during performances.
