Nigeria will host a food festival in Abuja
No fewer than 20 countries are expected to feature at the 2012 Abuja Food and Drink festival, tagged `Flavour of Abuja’, the organisers said on Monday.
The Managing Director of Ver-Annies Concept, Ann Adinkwe, the organisers of the event, said in Abuja that the countries include Ghana, Cameroun, Niger Republic, Uganda, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Brazil and the U.S.
She said the event would help to promote the country’s recipes to the world.
Ms. Adinkwe said that all the 36 states and Abuja would be represented at the event, adding that there would be food competition as well as cultural displays.
She said that adequate security would be provided for all the participants as more than 30 thousand customers were expected to attend the event.
Ms. Adinkwe said the festival would also afford restaurant operators, farmers and food vendors, among others, the opportunity to showcase their products to between November 30 and December 2.
She said the event would also feature workshops for small and medium enterprises in the food and drink sector, on how to process and package local cuisine to international standard.
“The fair will strengthen and promote Nigerian dishes and the tourism industry by making information available that would support their businesses.
“It will also generate employment and foster partnerships and collaboration among food and tourism operators,” she said.
